I lived in Munich, Germany for 3 years and other than the sausages and sauerkraut I found the Bavarian food disgusting. Over on my Facebook page I found a post on 10 U.S. foods that foreigners find disgusting . There are some I agree with but I must admit I have a weakness for corn dogs. I never eat dry cereal although Bacon and eggs are a special treat once or twice a week. The other times I eat oatmeal or cream of wheat although I do cook it in chicken stock rather than water.
But back to Munich. If not for the many foreign restaurants in Munich I might have starved to death. I could never get used to pig knuckles and stuffed lung. In Munich we were blessed with many foreign restaurants. The best pizza I have ever had was in Munich and then there were the French restaurants, some of the best in the world. There were also a couple of Indonesian restaurants that served up some really great curry chicken and rice. The Chinese restaurants were a little different from here in the U.S. perhaps because they were usually operated by Vietnamese. The local McDonald’s offered sauerkraut and served beer. There was a wonderful Hungarian restaurant not far from my apartment that served a great goulash soup. When we were traveling on the country back roads it was always best to stick with sausage and sauerkraut.
