Internet Explorer has not been the leading Web Browser for over a decade. Nearly 53% of people now use the Google Chrome browser. So what is the first thing you see when you go to the CoverOregon website? This:
The Oregon healthcare exchange website, CoverOregon.org, was “built and tested for use with Internet Explorer,” and may “not work properly” if used on other browsers, according to the site.
If you try to use another browser you see this:
There is simply no excuse for this. It also can’t be used with Ipads or Android tablets. Who could have thought this was a good idea? And if you have a Mac forget it. Internet Explorer has not been available for the Apple operating system for over a decade.
I have been involved in Web development for over a decade. It used to be that making a site work on all of the available browsers was often difficult and required a lot of code tweaking but that really hasn’t been the case for several years as the protocols are now pretty universal.
I don’t know if it’s incompetence or laziness but heads should roll.
