Detroit (Michigan) Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been ordered to jail today for violating the terms of his bond:

DETROIT — A judge on Thursday ordered Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to jail, shocking the city and plunging the leadership of the nation’s 11th-largest city into uncertainty.
Despite a plea from Kilpatrick that invoked his sons, his respect for the judicial process and his love of the city, 36th District Judge Ronald Giles was unmoved. He revoked Kilpatrick’s bond, ordering him to jail on a bond violation for a July 23 trip to Windsor.
As Kilpatrick’s lips quivered, Giles ended a short speech by concluding: “If it was not Kwame Kilpatrick sitting in that seat, if it was John Six-Pack sitting in the seat, what would I do? That answers something. So I go back to my original, ‘Keep it simple.’
“That’s what I have to do … the court is revoking your bond, that all travel be suspended, and two, that you to be remanded to Wayne County Jail.”
Wayne County sheriff’s deputies took Kilpatrick from 36th District Court at 12:55 p.m. and transport him to the main jail on St. Antoine, said John Roach, a spokesman for Sheriff Warren Evans.
For those that aren’t familiar with the entire sordid and stinky situation with Major Kwame Kilpatrick and his former Chief of Staff Christine Beatty, the Detroit News online has an entire special report at the following URL: http://detnews.com/kilpatrick. Or you can read my super duper quick fast summary below:
Mayor and his Chief of Staff have affair. They text each other back on forth of city-owned Skytel pages about a myriad of subjects such as sexual liaisons, cover-ups they are part of, more sex stuff, more cover-ups they are part of, even more sexual hook-ups (including that song that added to the mood when they “did their thing”), and even more cover-ups they are part of along with $8.4 million dollars of lawsuit settlements (that shouldn’t have happened). Text messages get exposed, laws broken, law obstructed, text messages published, outrage and praise, a few N-words, white conspiracy, charges, and WE’RE OFF TO THE RACES!
There’s really nothing more to say (YES THERE IS). It’s a sad state of affairs but another example of politicians/government leaders thinking they can do ANYTHING they want without repercussions. And to top it off, “Crazy KK” (my adorable little name for Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick) still has the nerve to say:
“I respect this process more than I’ve respected any process in my life and I’m sorry,” said Kilpatrick, who wore a gray suit.
This after consistently poorly leading and taking advantage of all things Detroit, disrespecting the law with attitude many times, and being a lawyer and former school teacher to boot!
UPDATE
The good folks over at Redstate (RightMichigancom’s Diary) have done their civic duty to tell you how Mayor Kilpatrick raised money for Senator Obama and they said nice things about each other back in June 2007. And I thought presidential politics wasn’t going to make it into this…
I’m not complex. Don’t have time for all that. And all that complex stuff bad for the stomach. Just color me simple and plain with a twist.
