Today is Martha Graham’s 117th birthday, with Google celebrating it as only they can.
In a world where ballet ruled, Ms. Graham blew the lid off the dance world.
Everyone has a past and this is part of mine.
In what seems like another life, before I went to Broadway, I dabbled in the lesser known Humphrey-Weidman school (via the great Harriette Ann Gray) of modern dance, during my college years.
Everyone in modern dance owes their craft to the great, incomparable Martha Graham, who put it on the map.
