Yesterday we ran THIS LINK from Thomas P.B. Barnett’s weblog. A reader spotted an error (that came about when we posted that link rather quickly):
Your link to Barnett implied that he was “on the Right.” I apologize for not explaining the full significance of his post. Barnett has some unique ideas about national security, but he’s very much a centrist politically. In fact, he’s a confirmed Democrat: he consulted for the Kerry campaing in ’04; he says some not-very-nice things about “neo-cons;” and in the post you linked, he refers to the Democrats as “my side.”
“I swore I’d never see that sort of dogmatic nonsense on my side like I saw it emerge–almost insanely–on the Right during the Clinton years (what I assumed would be the never-again-scaled heights of sputtering irrational rage), but I was wrong.”
We should have caught that, but didn’t. We regret the error.
