For three days I fumbled how to write my disgust over House Democrats and Republicans killing needed help for 9/11 first responders.
I’ll do it by letting the experts lay it on the line. First, this news release on the website of Rep. Carolyn Maloney, author of HR 847.
Next this fact check Q&A. And, finally, this from Jon Stewart of the Daily Show. The guy nailed it.
What’s important is that the first World Trade Center bill for 9/11 relief was passed by the Bush administration by borrowing and printing money.
Of equal importance is that private insurance does not pay for work accidents. Workmen compensation is either out of funds, late in paying or tied up court.
Formally known as the “James Zadroga 9/11 Health and Compensation Act” after a New York detective killed by the toxins, I would hope the two parties can stop their game playing and approve the bill after the summer recess.
Anyone who thinks differently should talk to Charles Giles, pictured below.
