Whether one loves or loathes George W. Bush, it would be hard not to be dumbfounded by the praise heaped upon the former U.S. president by columnist Jabir Al Jaburi in this article from Iraq’s Sotal Iraq newspaper.
On the anniversary of the Iraq invasion last week, Sotal Iraq’s Jabir Al Jaburi wrote in part:
I swear to Allah the beloved that if our mighty Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) were present on the day of the fall of the cursed statue [of Saddam], he would have proclaimed that Muslims have four festival days rather than three: Eid ul-Fitr [end of Ramadan], Eid ul-Adha [Festival of Sacrifice], Eid ul-Ghadeer [celebrates Prophet Muhammad’s last sermon] and the Holiday of the Liberation of Iraq.
We should respect and honor him the way the state of Kuwait honors his father on the anniversary of its liberation from the clutches of the cowardly Baathists. Peace be upon the day you were born, George W. Bush. Peace be upon the day you decided to liberate Iraq and the day you’re reborn with the martyrs and saints. Peace be upon your parents and brothers. And may Allah bless the pure womb that brought you life and the good people who raised you.
