The Obama administration has a new take on the duties and budgets of the EPA, not only different, but startlingly so, from previous admins who used the stalling technique for decades to deal with citizens very real chargers re
Agent Orange exposure during Nam
Black Lung out of Pennsylvania and West Virginia, and more
Radiation exposure deaths in Utah, New Mexico, Arizona
Water contamination of cadmium and other heavy minerals, Brownsville
Land contamination by uranium heaps, Rocky Flats, Colorado
Johns Manville, asbestos contamination
Trailer industry, formaldehyde contamination
Libby Montana, asbestos contamination.
The list of sites, deaths, lawsuits, class actions, begging government for notice of detritus and clean up of same in water supplies, in groundwater, in terra firma, in air, in food… and failure of government to act in timely ways, is longer than our bandwidth here.
Over time, it would appear, beginning back with the secret sterilizations of Native Americans and blacks and poor whites who were led to approach counters behind which were no lead shields, but rather wide open radiation machines… that not only made the people unable to bring children, but also harmed all other internal organs as well…
it appears that a strategy toi delay and delete help and mediation of those harms caused by government to others, used since time out of mind, is to let those harmed rail, sue, until… they die off.
Once most have died off, government may make a token restitution. Maybe.
It’s madness. All of it. So called underground nuclear and atomic testing, thinking there is no drift through the atmosphere. Dumping chemicals that kill humans and creatures into the rivers and ground, thinking the very capillaries of the earth do not exist, and the contaminant will not travel underground in the circulatory system of the earth to do its killing work. It goes on, the long list goes on.
Thus, Obama Admin’s EPA announcing Libby Montana as ‘a public health emergency’ is unheard of.
Cleanup crews have been trying to clean up Libby for ten years,,, while the residents of Libby and nearby Troy Montana die off at a rate estimated to be 40+ times higher than the normal life incursions of devastating illnesses… according to government studies.
This first of its kind declaration of short-term grant to provide asbestos-related health and medical services for screening, diagnosis and treatment was announced today by:
EPA administrator Lisa Jackson
with Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius
and Montana Senators Max Baucus and Jon Tester.
