A very smart and respected co-blogger on TMV (who happens to live a modest drive from me in Arizona) recently broached the subject of the former Alaska Governor and 2008 Republican Vice-Presidential Candidate. I agree that she’s great at self-promotion . She’s a very successful self-made entrepreneur because she fully understands America’s 24/7 info-entertainment news Media.
She knows how to play the mainstream U.S. Press that is clueless on how to value news items in the context of the big picture. Our national media is owned by a few large corporations that must constantly divert America’s attention from reality and promote the endless propaganda of our ruling elites.
Ms. Palin has made millions and will continue to do so as she has carved out a loyal following of people who will pay her to speak, write, ride motorcycles, and whatever else she decides to do. Not unlike the Kardashian sisters and many other American celebrities, she’s a self-made woman who started out in complete obscurity without any of the top credentials normally possessed by many among our ruling elites. That’s one thing that makes her popular with many regular Americans. She can be admired for her constant self-promotional efforts and very creative marketing skills using just one product – her personality – and that’s making a mountain out of a molehill.
I do diverge from my co-blogger in that I would be willing to vote for her as President whereas he cannot abandon his internal sanity as I am willing to do. We currently have a GQ-inspired President who is a tall, handsome, bi-racial, likeable person with an inspiring background, great resume, and wonderful family. Unfortunately he’s an empty suit that was born in Hawaii – the 50th U.S. State. As most mannequins, he is incapable of any original thoughts despite his flowery speaking skills. He has never held any overriding principles except to further his career and now his “raison-d’etre” is to get re-elected.
President Obama was also a great self-promoter and he rose to the highest-elected office in the U.S. in 2008 mostly on a cult following – a popular activity among Democrats every 4 years. He offered himself as all things to all people and now he’s viewed as nothing to everyone. In 2008, he beat Ms. Palin because Bush II was viewed as a complete disaster. John McCain almost became irrelevant in the 2008 elections and since then he has continued to shrink himself as a thoughtful, moderate or respected elected official. Arizona should build a status of him so he could finally retire and help his smart daughter run for political office.
President Obama and his advisers, plus the entire Congress (both Democrats and Republicans) are completely clueless on what to do to turn around the downward spiral of the American Empire. Considering the vociferous arguments from all parts of the political and economic spectrums that are perpetually flying about, President Obama’s calm silence is not what the nation needs now.
The nation needs a sane leader to articulate all the facts, and provide a long-term roadmap that is understandable to the majority of Americans. Some policies might not be popular but we as a nation need to turn away from meaningless consumerism and GDP growth towards a sustainable system that values human beings over financial profits at any global cost. Instead we have descended into endless tribal warfare of moronic ideas and “gotcha” blame games from which our citizens and elected officials cannot escape. Merely presiding over this lunatic asylum in a calm, detatched and do-nothing manner is not what people need from a President.
It was nice hearing that the entire paid Gingrich campaign staff resigned en masse. They probably saw the former House Speaker as the fraud he is, intellectually, politically, economically, socially and personally. He’s a man who also has successfully promoted himself for decades serving in various public sector jobs and think tank positions. He has been financially sustained by a select group of conservative businessmen and public officials who Gingrich has suckered into giving him enough money to keep him off direct public assistance. He is a man of many ideas – all lousy – but he’s proven Lincoln adage about fooling some of the people. He was never going to be a factor in the Republican primaries so his early exit helps the other candidates stay focused.
It is now official that a Delaware legal entity (a limited liability company) has purchased a property in North Scottsdale and Ms. Palin is linked to that entity. Her daughter already purchased a home in Maricopa on the opposite side of Phoenix, AZ. I suspect I could see their homes from my vantage point in central Phoenix by going up to the third floor on my condominium building (where I am renting a two-bedroom apartment on the second floor). However there are some large mountains blocking my view in most directions which still tower above the relatively short downtown buildings that are all under 30 stories in height.
I am currently leaning towards a demented, Machiavellian mechanism to solve our nation’s huge problems. It may take Ms. Palin to completely destroy the country in order to start rebuilding it in a completely different manner – possibly divided into six to eight different and semi-autonomous geographic parts. If anyone can encapsulate and promote the most stupid ideas in America today, the former Alaska governor is that person.
Obama is keeping the car called the American economy close to the precipice because he’s taking his cues from Wall Street and large crony capitalist business cartels that are his financial and political supporters. This group wants to pretend and extend the broken U.S. economic and political systems long enough so they can take as much money out before they bail before the car goes off the precipice. Ms. Palin offers the delicious opportunity to send everyone over the precipice must faster and with far more complete and transformative damage.
I do not plan to vote for President Obama’s in his re-election bid as I am no longer interested in choosing between the lesser of two evils or stupidities. The result is still mediocre evil and stupid when we really need complete lunacy. Rather I plan to intentionally vote for the craziest opposition candidate running in the 2012 field who has the best chance of being elected.
I serious question American exceptionalism, the America way, representational democracy, and many of this nation’s public policies, domestically and internationally. I am an American by birth – not by choice. I admire those who serve in the U.S., military for our country but I fear they are being misled and are merely enforcing the economic interests of our corporate masters – not the best interests of the American people.
America is still better than many other places on the globe simply because it is still exciting, fun, a lot more flexible and free, crazy in a nice way, and still the center of the world’s culture, politics and economics. This doesn’t say much for the rest of the globe when many people will try anything to get into this country. That fact alone keeps me more positive about the U.S. than anything else.
However I am not capable of helping my fellow Americans do the right thing and I am unsure if I am correct in my assessments. I am sane enough to realize that on a logical and statistical basis (unbiased mathematical probability) I am wrong about half the time – as are most people. But since the vast majority of Americans no longer want to listen to each other – identifying the good ideas from the bad ones – from all sides – is now impossible.
Sometimes when faced with too many willfully ignorant, narcissistic, distracted, greedy, self-centered and clueless citizens, every effort should be made to help them see clearly the consequences of 30-years of bi-partisan and wrong-headed choices. Experience is a hard teacher but many people only learn through this strict and unforgiving method. It’s time America gets a nasty and honest education. A few more years of massive economic decline, rampant joblessness, lost pensions, and bleak futures might finally make people think and abandon the mindless distractions of moronic passive entertainment continuously available on over-priced new electronic devices.
I would support complete Republican dominance after 2013 since that party best represents the lunacy and most of the worst vices of the American people. The Democratic Party is completely devoid of ideas and it exists solely to protect the bankrupt status quo. Both parties are completely incapable of governing because in reality, control and power were ceded to the top one percent in this nation more than a decade ago.
The completely insane Republican Party lead by Ms. Palin as President would be more entertaining in promptly bringing about a complete collapse of the American Empire. We get the nation we deserve and who am I to fight against a failing trajectory 30 years in the making?
