A couple of days ago I had a post on how Change is Hard. I must admit I’m not immune. I have been a photographer for nearly 50 years the first forty of which involved silver based film and paper (did you know there was a time when most of the world’s silver was used in photographic film and paper). The change from silver to digital didn’t come easy for me. I still miss the smell of fixer (sodium thiosulfate) which was almost like a drug to true photographers. And the magical appearance of an image on a piece of paper in a darkroom tray was nearly a religious experience.
But while the change was hard I have seen the advantages of digital photography. With Photoshop I can do things I only dreamed of in the silver age. I have scanned many of my old negatives and transparencies and given them new life. Change is indeed hard but give it a chance and it can be rewarding.
Just a little break from current events and politics. I need to do that once in awhile.
