Here’s a bit of cross-cultural New Year’s fun from columnist Patrik Etschmayer of Switzerland’s Nachrichten newspaper.
According to Etschmayer, 2010 will be an embarrassing one for President Obama, but even more so for Republicans, after their plot to have President Obama awarded all sorts of honors and awards backfires badly when for her memoirs, Sarah Palin wins the 2010 Nobel Prize for Literature.
Here is Etschmayer’s entry for March, 2010:
March: There is a sensation at the Oscars when, on March 7, Barack Obama wins the award for best male lead. Obama refuses to accept the award because he’s not an actor. ‘Actors learn to read their lines by heart; I’d be hopeless without a teleprompter!’
