As we draw to the close of this endless election (perhaps we should call it a war at this point?) some conservative forces have sought to assemble a final argument against the qualifications and record of Barack Obama. For the record, I don’t find a lot of traction in a number of these points but, for those with an open mind, I would offer you the opportunity to review the charges. The list has been assembled and published by my good friend Ed Morrissey in conjunction with Mary Katharine Ham and Guy Benson.
There are a number of videos and links provided and they bring up the following points:
1. Abortion
2. Taxes
3. Radical Associations
4. Policy Judgment
5. Disdain for the Heartland
6. The Race Card
7. Lack of Accomplishments
Some of these areas are obviously more valid than others for yours truly. The abortion issue is still important to many voters, but has largely gone under the radar this year. It wasn’t even mentioned in the debates until the last one. Not a defining issue for me this year, but you may find the material of interest if it’s a chief concern of yours. Taxes, obviously, are of concern to pretty much everyone. The charges seem to be that Obama is talking tax cuts now but has been a big tax-and-spend guy in the past. Again… you may be the judge.
I’ll take 3, 5 and 6 all in one batch here. I don’t really care. It’s not in my radar and looks like red meat that doesn’t play where I vote. Policy judgment and lack of experience are, in my opinion, certainly fair game and should be considered by all.
Again, each person can judge each chapter for themselves, but there’s lots of material, videos and links for you to explore should you care to delve in. Good luck, and let us know what you think.
