One Right wing blogger raised a bit of a stir earlier this week with his “interesting” explanation of why so many Jews are “liberal” when, if they had the brains God gave a goat, they should be hard core, conservative Republicans. Here’s one Jewish lady who was shocked to find out how unintelligent she must be and how Republicans are the real philo-semitic party. (Don’t feel bad. I had to go look it up too.)
Exit question: How many religious, ethnic and social groups can we possibly jam into pigeon holes as if they are all single issue voters who should be homogeneous in their political beliefs?
Dunno, why are SC conservatives so darned racist?
Because of their long history of persecution, Jews tend to defend the underdog in society. They were outcasts themselves for so many centuries and still are in some parts of the world.
What surprises me about the Jewish liberal connection is the Jewish view on abortion seems so in contrast to liberal political ideology. Its like a whole bunch of Kennedy families (minus Eunice who was pro-life).
Not when compared to South Carolina Liberals.

Dear Jazz,
We label everything/everyone, not just religious/social groups. And, if you try to resist being labelled and pigeon holed, you're labelled and pigeon holed as indecisive, unprincipled or anarchist.

Discrimination in the 1930s when FDR came to power and the Dems became the home as well as a refuge for the downtrodden outsiders. Since then it's a multi-generational thing. Despite the Sixties radicalism and anti-Israel craziness among some, presumably the Republicans remain unappealing if not loathsome (the word I've used before). Lib media activism and other myths and lies (including by those on the Web) are far from a friend of the GOP, either.
It's a similar situation to that of black Americans and for that matter, women and Hispanics.
Maybe people just suck?
Maybe they remember being excluded from all-Wasp country clubs, and President Nixon's voice on his tapes during the 70's proclaiming his hatred of the Jews.
Maybe there is nothing in the current GOP approach to politics that attracts a thinking, reasonable human.
K. I tend to agree with you, even though the current situation is complicated by lefty myths and worse.
A reason not discussed is that until Buckly the Conservative movement was very anti-Semitic. Also, some Jews feel a loyalty to the Democrats because Truman was so fast to recognize Israel over state department objections. But Truman was an anomaly. Roosevelt could have saved hundreds of thousands of Jews during the holocaust, but didn't. Kennedy really didn't care one way or another. Johnson supported many Jewish causes included civil rights, but was not a friend of Israel until his last year in office. Jimmy Carter hated (and still hates) Jews. Clinton was OK and Barack Obama is possibly the worst President for Jews in American History.
I suspect that the 2012 elections will see a much larger percentage of Jews going to the GOP than 2008.

You are assuming that Jews only think about Israel when voting.
I think they also consider candidates that make speeches at Liberty University proclaiming that the United States is a Christian nation. Most Jews prize separation of church and state, and don't want the Christian right to influence policy.
Why are Jews so darned liberal?
Because they are the smartest, best educated & most successful ethnic group in America.
