IDF Ground Offensive in Gaza Has Begun

It has become necessary for the IDF to temporarily enter Gaza. Keep in mind that the IDF includes Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Druze soldiers, both male and female, working together to protect the citizens of the State of Israel. My hope is that Hamas is destroyed and Gilad Shalit is rescued.

Jerusalem Post: Soldiers exchange fire with Hamas gunmen inside Strip

For the first time since the start of Operation Cast Lead, IDF ground troops entered the Gaza Strip on Saturday evening, exchanging fire with Hamas gunmen.

The IDF said that a large amount of Armored Corps, Engineering Corps and Infantry troops entered the territory with the purpose of destroying Hamas infrastructure and preventing rocket fire by taking control of launching pads in northern Gaza.

The IDF warned that terrorists using civilians as human shields would bear full responsibility for their fate.

As we now enter the eighth day of the Israeli terrorist attack against the Palestinians, let's hope that the continued, growing worldwide pressure and condemnation of the Israeli's terrorist actions will stop them from murdering any more Palestinians.

I wouldn't have minded this entry at all except for the very first sentence, particularly the first four words. I'll confess that I partially spit up a bit of my coffee when I read that.

Holly - I have relatives in many of the settlements from Har Homa, Arial, Ma'ale Adumim and even Kiryat Arba as well as others. My phone is has been ringing off the hook all late afternoon and evening from these same relatives. They know how I feel about the Israeli/Palestinian problem and they are using the ground invasion to rub my nose in salt. All of them are holding impromptu parties to celebrate three things - one a lot of "those people" are going to get killed, two if enough of them are killed maybe my aunt and uncle can move back to Gush Katif, three they know that the anger this will generate in the Palestinians means a peace agreement is at least 5-10 years down the road. This will give the settlers time to establish more outposts and enlarge settlements so that a Palestinian state becomes impossible.
