Von I. Meyer, Indiana Man with 47-Gun Arsenal, Arrested for Threatening to Kill Kids at Jane Ball Elementary School

Von I. Meyer, a Cedar Lake, Ind., resident, who was equipped with an arsenal of 47 guns, was arrested on Friday after he threatened to kill children at a local elementary school. Von I. Meyer had also threatened his wife:

Cedar Lake police were called to the home of 60-year-old Von I. Meyer early Friday after he allegedly threatened to set his wife on fire. A police statement says Meyer also said he would enter Jane Ball Elementary School and “kill as many people as he could.” Authorities found 47 guns and ammunition worth over $100,000.

This incident comes on the heels of Adam Lanza’s shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Conn., that left 26 dead, including 20 children and six teachers. This also comes on the heels of the arrest of an Oklahoma man planning a school shooting.

  1. Thanks Janet, it makes you wonder what’s the matter with so many people.

The first comment in the Oklahoma man planning a school shooting article bears repeating:

When a country calls gun ownership a right and access to mental healthcare a privilege, something has gone terribly amiss.

  2. Just looked at a pro gun site. It said “Bingo! Look for more of this.” They’re commin’ to git our guns! NRA and friends have made it much harder for Obama to take any action on the problem. Actually, for any president to take any action on the problem, but the Kenyan muslim is particularly suspect.

Still waiting for NRA suggestions re solution to the murder of children. I understand their twitter site has been taken down.

  3. If you look around you will see people associated with the far right saying the problem is that there are too many restrictions on guns already, that teachers should have assault rifles in the schools. Complete lunacy in my opinion.

  4. We are talking about paranoid individuals in the NRA.
If my suggestion in a previous post was taken, and new applicants for gun permits had to have a psychological profile before issuance, we would see ALOT fewer people getting to own guns. If we made it mandatory for all PRESENT gun owners to have one, the NRA membership would dwindle to maybe 15 people.

strange, you have to take a driving test to operate a motor vehicle, but they will let any idiot and nut case own a firearm.
