This is major news:
With the second quarter closing on Saturday, Hillary Clinton campaign spokesman Howard Wolfson said in a memo the campaign expects to take in at least $27 million, conceding that Barack Obama will be collecting “significantly” more in April, May and June.
The Clinton campaign did not break down how much of that $27 million was for the primary and how much was given for the general election contest.
The only figure that counts politically is money raised for the primary election. Obama’s second quarter haul, according to estimates of knowledgeable observers, could reach $30 million — most raised for the primary.
$30 million. That’s amazing. That is – obviously – a record. Hillary’s expected $27 million is more than a Democratic candidate raised in the second quarter of the pre-election year as well. The two Democratic frontrunners are raising incredible amounts of money right now. It will be interesting to see how much their Republican counterparts will raise. According to all estimations, these candidates will raise significantly less than Obama and Clinton.
More good news for Obama:
Obama is also amassing a giant donor base; some 250,335 people donated in the first half of the year.
Again – that’s a breath taking amount (of donors). Obama appeals to a lot of people and those people are more than willing to give. They relatively small amounts, but they give.
