It is time
(To my daughter on her birthday)
Discrimination is alive and well.
Against minorities, on religious, racial and social lines, sexual preferences and gender orientation.
This one, however, remains astonishing for its persistence and the sheer numbers.
Discrimination against half of this world’s population.
That is discrimination against Women.
Subtle or obvious, it remains unrelenting and in some way, form or shape is always there.
And yes it is still present in the most sophisticated of the societies.
Be it unequal remuneration or receiving less aggressive medical care.
Or as in still waiting for the first Woman President to lead this planet’s most advanced nation.
A wait now for well over two centuries. Please try and explain this.
As I hope that an American Woman President, the leader of the free world, shall inspire Women everywhere and further cut into this bias.
It is time.
