Report: ‘Horrific’ New Mexico Shooting Leaves 5 dead; Investigators Arrest 15-year-old

Here come the “Guns don’t kill people…” emails and comments. The latest news: a 15 year old boy has been charged with shooting two adults and three children with a knife with a rifle in what investigators call a “horrific” crime scene. CNN:

Sheriff’s investigators combed through what one called a “horrific” crime scene Sunday after the shooting deaths of five people, three of them children, outside Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Each of victims had been shot multiple times, Bernalillo County sheriff’s Lt. Sid Covington, and one of the weapons used was what he described as an assault rifle. Bernalillo County Sheriff Dan Houston said a 15-year-old boy, who “may be a family member,” has been charged with two counts of murder and three counts of child abuse resulting in death.

“Initially responding deputies entered the home and found the five deceased inside the residence, so obviously it was a very gruesome scene,” Covington told reporters. There was no indication of a motive so far, he said.

“I’ve never seen a scene quite like this,” he added.

Investigators did not released the names of the victims Sunday afternoon, saying the process of formally identifying the remains was still going on. But they said the dead included a man, a woman and three grade-school-age children — two girls and a boy.

Houston said deputies were dispatched to the home, in a semi-rural area on the southwestern edge of Albuquerque, around 9:15 p.m. Saturday. They were summoned by “a party that was called by the suspect,” he said, but “I don’t know what the dynamics of that relationship is.”

And to put this into perspective, GO HERE to see graphics that hammer home just how many people have been killed with guns since Newtown. Oh: this isn’t updated so there are MORE than you’ll see in that graphic.

“But, Joe, guns don’t kill people…”
Yeah, yeah, I know.

Tell it to the all the grieiving family members.

I went to see ARGO (great movie – no shootings) and we must have sat through close to 20 previews; all but one were shoot-em-ups & blow-em-ups. I imagine everyone there was thinking about our problem as they watched 30 minutes of mayhem. The one different? A re-release of Jurrasic Park in 3-D.

This is on everyone’s radar and, for once, the media isn’t going to let it go away. All these movies were in the pipeline, of course, before Dec. 16 and it will be interesting if they slow it down even a little bit for even a little while once the pipeline is empty. Probably not. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

But, but, Joe, there you go again trying to use the emotions immediately following an isolated, occasional gun tragedy — caused by people, not guns — to take our guns away, to overturn the Second Amendment,to tell us that we shouldn’t have anything other than muskets, to take our right to defend ourselves, our home and our loved ones away.

    still not enough dead kids…

change requires lots of blood, dead bodies and blood.

aint that America, for you and me.
aint that America, something to see, baby.
aint that America, home of the free…

little blood-red houses, for you and me.

    When you look at this

“Nehemiah stated he wanted to shoot people at random and eventually be killed while exchanging gunfire with law enforcement,” the report said.

    maybe this

Griego reportedly gushed to police about his love for violent video games during the interrogation, Houston said. He told police he loved to play Modern Warfare and Grand Theft Auto.

    Certainly this

Houston said that Griego had occasionally lost touch with his family and then reconnected with them multiple times in his life.

Then I don’t know that your sarcasm is justified

All but one, the father, of the victims were killed with a 22. The last victim was the father killed hours later with a AR-15 so considering the story if there ever was a legitimate time to say it wasn’t the gun but the person then this would be it. Heck I think the making of these spree shooters into such a huge event causes way more issues than the availability of high cap mags but that’s just my opinion.
