Our political Quote of the Day comes from former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin:
“Vote for Newt. Annoy a liberal. Vote Newt. Keep this vetting process going, keep the debate going.”
And so it comes down to this. The vote — that little thing that so many Americans died for more than two centuries to make sure all Americans had — should be used to “annoy” someone with whom you disagree. Someone who has a different ideological label than you do. The rest of Palin’s comment about keeping the vetting process going, fair enough.
But “Vote for Newt. Annoy a liberal”?
This quote isn’t notable for what it says about Gingrich.
Or for what it says about the vetting process.
But for what it says about Palin.
What’s more, I think the quote has no foundation in reality. Newt seems to be annoying conservatives far more than he annoys liberals. (I doubt Palin even knows what a real liberal is) Liberals are most likely enjoying the process and would be happy to see Newt hang on and continue dogging the GOP.
The irony here is that, campaign slogans aside, the vote that “so many American’s died for” is being literally taken away by new Republican sponsored voter restrictions, which are strongly supposed by Mitt Romney. To believe that a vote for Romney, is in any way a show of respect for the sacrifices that so many Americans made to protect our right to vote, is a cruel illusion.
The shrinking middle class and voter suppression, the Republicans are handing Florida to Obamama.

Germany avoids these problems by requiring people to register with the city when they move-out or move-in. (you also have to tell them where you are going or coming from)
it is a bit big brotherish, but it solves many problems.
it doesn’t keep terrorist from hatching plots, but at least they know where they live.
@Shannon–assuming that the terrorists vote…
I discussed the election requirements that were being enacted with a very conservative acquaintance of mine. I pointed out that voter fraud is all but nonexistent. I pointed out that my own kids would have problems if my state adopted the same laws (since they do not have driver’s licenses and my state has the most idiotic rules about getting picture ID’s). In the end, he just will not look at the reality that the only ‘real’ reason for the photo ID cards in the southern states (where they are predominantly required) was to disenfranchise blacks, other minorities, and poor elderly.
Palin is the ultimate political strip-tease, thrusting and rubbing her self all over a White House column. The dollars reign down and she gives them another sneak peek at what’s under that dress. See just how nasty America’s Top MILF will get for the cash at http://dregstudiosart.blogspot.com/2011/06/ecstasy-of-sarah-palin_15.html

Same sexist comment, verbatim, same trashy link, same poster. Methinks we have a spam-bot.
