Yet another negative memo has come out about former New York Mayor Giuliani — another internal memo about his vulnerabilities…this one an older memo but with some newer information.
The Smoking Gun begins its entry this way:
As he campaigns for the Republican presidential nomination, Rudolph Giuliani will have to contend with political and personal baggage unknown to prospective supporters whose knowledge of the former New York mayor is limited to his post-September 11 exploits. So, in a bid to educate the electorate, we’re offering excerpts from a remarkable “vulnerability study” that was commissioned by Giuliani’s campaign prior to his successful 1993 City Hall run.
Read the particulars yourself. The questions are how and why are these presumably secret internal documents coming out now?
How will Giuliani respond (if at all) to them? It’s clear that the newest one will be a treasure’s chest to his competitors for the 2008 election, progressive talkers (and some conservative talks who don’t like him because he’s too socially liberal), columnists and some bloggers. Will it matter to his supporters (and that includes Republicans who support him) and to swing voters? Or will these memos fill in the blanks and alter his post 911 image as “America’s Mayor?”
