The Huffington Post is running a memo it says is from the Vice President of News at Fox News that that this former staff reporter considers to have one of the most damning lines he has seen in journalism.
According to the Huffington Post, it’s written by Fox News‘ vice president of News on the day the Democrats won control of both houses of Congress.
The line is this:
And let’s be on the lookout for any statements from the Iraqi insurgents, who must be thrilled at the prospect of a Demo-controlled Congress.

In my own journalism career I worked extensively overseas with the late Chicago Daily News, the Christian Science Monitor, was brought in to work with the Madrid Newsweek bureau as an extra “stringer” during the death of dictator Francisco Franco, did some “live” reports from Madrid for National Public Radio, and worked as staff reporter on the Wichita Eagle-Beacon and the San Diego Union.
I never had an editor ask me to get a comment in such a political way with the implication that it would be used to make a political point.
