And Now A Word From Satan
Republican Presidential aspirant former Senator Rick Santorum generated lots of controversy and news stories when The Drudge Report drudged up a 2008 speech where Santorum warned about Satan’s threat to America.
But is that fair? So far we’ve only heard from Santorum and Satan’s critics. What is Satan really thinking these days?
He’s thinking this:

You know the establishment is fighting you when Drudge is trying to trash you.
If you think Santorum is comic relief, if you think this is an SNL sketch, it’s not.
The theocratic Christianist fringe has had three candidates in this election cycle (Perry, Bachmann and Santorum), and they’re damn well going to keep at it with more.
And you can bet the ranch they’re going to work to make them appear as reasonable as possible and they’re learning their lessons for the next time.
This situation isn’t funny – it’s a threat to America. And much more of a threat than any al Qaeda terrorist with a bomb strapped to their chest.
Ah, I do love Damn Yankees, but I was definitely thinking more along these lines:

OK, back on course. If this overstep by the reactionary wing of the GOP cripples them the only thing they will learn from it is the need for a cloaking device.
Zippee — Yikes, buddy. We’ve had Bible thumpers running for office in this country for as long as we’ve had a country.
Fighting the Left-Behind-reading crazies by telling everyone that OMGthisistheendofAmericaasweknowit!!! is a strategy that you might want to think about. Yes, if Christianists were to take over everything, it would be really bad. However, using humor to point out the ridiculousness of their positions is a totally valid form of criticism, and it does not imply that the subject isn’t being taken seriously.
Righto roro, humor is a great tonic and safety valve when confronted with people with dangerous agendas ~ and who seem to have NO sense of humor btw. As you say, it doesn’t mean they aren’t being taken seriously.
