Theme Song for a Donald Trump Moderated Republican Debate

I don’t know why but the news that Donald Trump (and his hair) will be moderating a Presidential debate (supposedly) attended by leading candidates of the Republican Party brings to mind the song below. Once upon a time, debates conjured up images of Lincoln-Douglas, the Kennedy-Nixon debates, debates hosted by news organizations such as Fox News, CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS. And the serious Gain-Gingrich debate.

But Donald Trump? Birther Donald Trump? Reality show Donald Trump? It brings to mind this song — as does the entire process so far in the GOP of the quick rise and fall of the Anti-Romney’s. It makes me think of with song and — and think of it with some sadness:

This is from the great musical “Singing in the Rain.”

    For this group, “Bull on Parade” is the ideal song….

    rally around the family with a pocket full of shells….

    Breathless Joe. Nobody in America is that fit anymore!

    What the hell happened to real entertainment?

    I’d say a dirge is good for a Donald debate.

    How bout its the end of the world as we know it by REM? The GOP just doesn’t want to let up with the absurdities. I think they need a new panel to moderate with Ryan Seacrest, Simon Cowell, and Sarah Palin. They can all sit in front of a huge banner that says “take us seriously?!” in huge letters.

    What else: “Undecided”

    You say it’s yes, and then it’s no;
    You say you’ll stay, and then you go -
    You’re undecided now, so what are you gonna do?

  5. dduck says:

    Good, for RP. They all should unless they are into circuses.

  6. ShannonLeee says:

    Cheers for RP! Lets hope others follow.

    At least one Repub has the sense to realize that Trump does not have the intellectual capacity or gravitas to moderate the debates– altho I am certain that HE believes that he does.

    The well has already been poisoned by his own disgraceful showing as a presidential candidate.
