According to Haaretz, UN Secretary-General Kofi Annan said Israel’s Baalbek operation has violated the UN-backed truce and made him “deeply concerned.”

Since neither the UN nor the Lebanese army are willing to disarm Hezbollah and Hezbollah has not disarmed itself, the truce has been inoperative from the moment it was announced. The State of Israel has not only the right but the responsibility to defend its citizens by preventing arms from reaching Hezbollah.
