This is the reason why I could have seen myself voting for Lamont in the Democratic primary. It’s not that the Democratic party is losing its center. It’s that the anger and fury that once was contained to the fringe has begun to express itself even amongst otherwise sober, rational figures. Howard Dean (known as a moderate Democratic hawk for most his career) was the first. And now it’s expanding, as middle-of-the-road Democrats react to what they say as horrifying excess, disrespect, and disregard for basic rules of fair play coming out of the right.
