Perhaps it’s because I lived in Munich for several years, I could see the FC Bayern practice field from my office window, but I have loved soccer for most of my life.  Both of my sons played soccer and I never missed a game.  I was glued to the TV last night to watch the USA Portugal and have no problem with a tie after 90 minutes.  I don’t follow NFL football and I can’t think of a game more boring than major league baseball although I must admit I never actually seen a cricket match.  It’s true that the only major league  teams we have here in Portland are an NBA team and an MLS team but that’s primarily because as a community we have refused to use tax payer dollars to build a venue. I for one don’t have a problem with a tie after 90 minutes of play.  The skillful offense and defense for 90 minutes is reward enough.
