Every once in a while a program comes on to television that really catches your eye. In a world full of reality shows and numerous versions of American Idol, it is not often that you find one that tests you with some really good social commentary and observations on society.
Well one new show that I think does this quite well is an ABC program called “What Would You Do ?”
The basic premise is that they set up a situation where passers by are faced with some sort of a moral question. For example in a recent program they placed a fake baby in a locked car and provided realistic crying sounds. It was a hot day and the question posed was what would people do ?
In that case while many did walk past others did stop. Some called police but nobody actually took the baby out of the car.
Other recent situations presented a woman being harassed by an annoying flirt, a woman berating a nanny in a book store and a dog locked in the car. An earlier episode filmed in Europe presented tourists and locals with the stereotypical ugly Americans making fools of themselves.
The fun part of the show of course is for you to try and decide for yourself what you would do. Unlike many reality shows this does not stoop to Jerry Springer levels but places people in situations we probably all encounter every day.
The show is on Tuesdays at 10pm and I would suggest you check it out.
Or if you already have, feel free to chime in on your thoughts.
