This latest “scandal” is a further illustration about how American politics now deals with issues almost as side issues. The real concern of partisans is to get something — anything — on their opponent or someone with whom they disagree. It’s all trying to demean and discredit. PREDICTION: I am betting some talk radio hosts will talk about this and somehow to forget how it all turned out. The idea isn’t conveying facts or talking about issues: it’s creating narratives that can discredit someone.
