It’s amazing how many iron-clad truths have reversed themselves since the end of the previous administration:
- Demonstrations, public rallies, marches, against White House policies are no longer unpatriotic, subversive, or treasonous. Even secession threats, praying for the President’s death, actual or implied violence, publicly hoping for the President to fail, and prescribing a military coup as a “solution” to the “problem” of the Obama presidency are no longer considered anything to get all worked up about.
- The President has the right to get an up or down vote on his Cabinet-level and other federal appointees without weeks months of delay, roadblocks, and obstructionism? Not so much anymore.
- Volunteerism is no longer the finest American tradition for helping other Americans.
- Undermining official U.S. foreign policy is no longer a no-no. In fact, it’s even considered acceptable now to conduct your own foreign policy, separate from the President’s.
- Contrary to previous dogma, our constitutional freedoms and protections are being compromised, and the President most definitely is using the Constitution as toilet paper.
- It’s no longer important to respect the office of the Presidency. Indeed, respect for the President of the United States is so outdated these days that it’s possible for leading conservatives to warn parents against the possibility that their children might be harmed by watching a video of the President talking to them.
- Is it crazy lib tin-foil hat conspiracy paranoia to think that the government is collecting information on Americans to store in a huge database and use to send Americans to internment camps? Not anymore.
- Rooting against America is awesome, man! In fairness, though, not for all conservatives.
