The word bate has several meanings. I would let you pick the one you choose for this the last Presidential debate of the 2016 season.
Here are a few remarks I have. Fortunately for many of us and unfortunately for Mr. Trump he is much more remarkable in what he says and how he says it, so the jokes and writings tend to get skewed towards him some.
Both Secretary Clinton and Mr. Trump came out swinging. No handshakes before or after, no walk to the center to acknowledge, smile, nod at each other. Nothing. An ugly brawl from the start to very end.
Chris Wallace was balanced for the most part, and the debate was the most policy talk I have so far heard from them.
The exchange at one point between the two candidates was. You are the puppet. No, you are the puppet.
I felt like interjecting and saying, “and we are all in grade 3.”
Overall Secretary Clinton was more statesperson like and verifiable and Mr. Trump more trumpian, shooting from the hip and verifiably less verifiable. Depending on who you talk to this is his biggest asset too.
If body language was a clue, Mr. Trump was a cornered lion when he felt wronged and convinced of his argument and a meek bunny when he was found lacking and short on defense. His face does give him away. Secretary Clinton typically has that bland experienced look of just another day at the office. The swings of emotions one sees on Mr. Trump’s face is huge and much narrower on Secretary Clinton’s face. Having said that generally, the American people tend to like faces with more expressed emotions, grimaces, frowning, etc. and this being advantage Mr. Trump.
Mr. Trump’s nasal swoosh was less heard than in the second debate. The immigration section of questioning got the most of his swoosh out and medically I cannot explain why.
On abortion Mr. Trump said, you want to rip the baby out in the last few days of pregnancy.
On immigration Secretary Clinton said, you want to rip the families apart.
At this juncture I had to cover my mouth from yelling, what about the rip-off we the people are getting.
More than once Mr. Trump mentioned asking Japan, Germany, and Saudi Arabia to pay up. I had to look up Germany as for a moment I thought it is some schmuck third world country. It turns out that Germany is the biggest economic power in Europe and one of our strongest allies which just happens to be run by a Woman Chancellor. It has also taken in close to a million refugees fleeing the war zones while we are quibbling over a few thousand. It is giving Russia and Putin a tough talk on our behalf. Did he say we are going to ask Germany to pay up? I will have to rerun the recording and hear it again.
Coincidentally they both talked over each other, and it erupted into a shouting match in the section of guess what, “Fitness to be President.”
On the subject of Foreign hot spots, they warred over how to fight our enemies and all this when the American nation is divided and fighting amongst itself. I wonder how our enemies feel about this? I wonder who is the real winner here?
As is usual President Obama got blamed by Mr. Trump for everything including the burnt pizza crust and the chicken which did not lay the egg. Unfortunately for Mr. Trump, the President is on a roll and enjoying some high approval ratings. At this point and for such poor advice, I thought I heard Mr. Trump yelling at Donald Trump, “you’re fired.”
Mr. Trump said ISIS have all left and their leaders have all left Mosul because of prior warnings about the impending attack but that he expects a very tough fight from them. I so wanted to tell him that both these statements are mutually exclusive.
Secretary Clinton answered the entitlement question with her policy of raising more money and taxes while Mr. Trump deflected the same question with his critique of Obamacare.
Mr. Trump in his defense and to counter Secretary Clinton’s criticism repeatedly said that he respects women more than anyone else. A little later in the debate, he calls out Secretary Clinton, “a nasty woman.”
I believe that the elections are for Secretary Clinton to lose and for Mr. Trump to win. His rigging claims are very unfortunate for they hit at the very foundations of this country. Also in this debate, it was good to see Secretary Clinton show some teeth.
Someday when it is all over the then President Clinton should call up and thank Mr. Trump for without his help, she had little chance.
This election season, “that people deserve the leaders they get,” I am at a fail to wish for and fully comprehend.
