There was a time when being the relative of a famous political figure was a leg up in an election contest. Not so this year. Names like Thurmond, Hastert and Dominici have all come up croppers in the primaries.
But, “Rory” got himself nominated to run for governor of Nevada. He calls his campaign “Rory 2010″ [see photo above left]. You can learn about “Rory’s” education plan, “Rory’s” jobs plan. You can learn all about “Rory”. Just don’t ask his last name. It’s Reid. Yes, the son of that Reid.
Here’s a campaign ad for “Rory”.
Maybe it’ll become a trend. Like rock stars and athletes and Hollywood types who strut their one-name fame. Or maybe “Rory” is just smart enough to “reid” the poll numbers about his famous dad. Whatever the motivation, “Rory’s” determination to run without a surname doesn’t seem to be working. He’s down 15 points in the RCP polling average, so we probably won’t be “reiding” about “Rory” being Nevada’s next governor come November.
