Conservative political commentator Wayne Allyn Root has a message for the pouting GOP elites who want to derail Donald Trump’s quest for the American Presidency:
“I keep hearing Ted Cruz conservatives dissing Donald Trump. I keep seeing the idiotic slogan #NeverTrump. I have a message for all of you: Stop your whining and childish hissy fits. Stop the distortions of Trump’s record. Of course Trump is better than Hillary. Of course all Republicans need to unite behind Trump. Of course he’s a conservative. I’ll prove it to you.”
Conservative writer David Horowitz joins in the rebuking of the pouting “Never Trump” Republicans:
“True conservatives” claim the Constitution as their Bible. But, as everybody knows, the first principle of that document is that the people are sovereign. The people’s voice, expressed at the ballot box, determines who leads. The “Never Trump” conservatives don’t respect this principle. What other conclusion can be drawn from their arrogant repudiation of a candidate whose authority derives from the expressed will of the people?
Still, the pouting “Never Trump” Republicans are threatening to take their ball and go home, as revealed in The Hill article “Search is on for a third-party candidate to take down Trump”.
“Conservatives involved in the search for a Trump alternative describe their discussions as decentralized, with various groups holding conference calls and conducting fact-finding missions. In addition to [Erick] Erickson and [Deborah] DeMoss Fonseca, other participants include Bill Kristol, editor of the Weekly Standard, Bill Wichterman, a former aide for former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-Tenn.) who is well-connected among social conservatives, and Bob Fischer, a South Dakota businessman and longtime activist.”
As for what David Horowitz thinks about Bill Kristol . . .
In opposing the clear choice of the Republican primary electorate, the “Never Trump” crowd is simply displaying their contempt for the most politically active Republican voters. This contempt was dramatically displayed during a CNN segment with Trump’s spokeswoman, Katrina Pierson, and Bill Kristol, the self-appointed guru of a Third Party movement whose only result can be to split the Republican ticket and provide Hillary with her best shot at the presidency.
Pierson urged Kristol to help unify the Party behind its presumptive nominee. Kristol grinned and answered her: “You want leaders to become followers.” Could there be a more arrogant response? By what authority does Bill Kristol regard himself as a leader? Trump has the confidence of millions of highly committed and generally conservative Republican voters. That makes him a leader. Who does Bill Kristol lead except a coterie of inside-the-Beltway foreign policy interventionists, who supported the fiasco in Libya that opened the door to al-Qaeda and ISIS?
Horowitz has a point. Leaders are chosen at the ballot box. Donald Trump’s name has been on ballots. Bill Kristol’s name hasn’t. Whether one likes Trump or hates him, at least he got into the game. Kristol, on the other hand, remains an armchair quarterback.
Over at Crooks and Liars, John Amato writes, “Bill Kristol, the man who helped sink Sen. John McCain’s chances by suggesting and supporting Sarah Palin for his Vice President, unveils another one of his off-the-wall ideas – that are so ridiculous, not only would it never happen, but it would gift wrap the presidency to any Democratic politician, including HRC. I hope Kristol and his #NeverTrump compatriots start a Super PAC to vet a third party candidate and to get he/she in the race.”
When a member of the political Left wants the pouting “Never Trump” Republicans to divide the GOP, one can be certain that the latter is working to elect Hillary Clinton even if the latter doesn’t realize it.
