Our mountain adventure draws to a close, as we prepare to head back down to civilization again. While I’m in for a bit more vacation time still, I hope that most of you at least had a nice, long weekend to relax and unwind from the daily grind. Last night I stepped outside and walked into a perfect moment, as the full moon was rising above the mountains, shining down onto the lake in front of me and the loons were singing in full voice. I captured it for you as best I could in the hopes of sharing a little bit of that peace of spirit which is really only found in such places. (Click on the thumbnail for the full image, which may prove a nice desktop for some of you if you’re in the market.)
Watching that moon rise and listening to the various calls of the wild, I realized that there are still some things more important than catching a fish. I may have been shut out on the angling front for the first time ever on one of these trips, but each of the younger children managed to snag at least one. And what’s more important, really? While no Boone and Crockett records were set this week, the extended family all got to share in the experience. And through the magic of the internet, I hope some of our readers were able to at least partially share in it too.
So rest easy, you PETA types. Your finny friends are all safe and secure in their watery beds…. until next year. And yes, Ed… you were more profit than prankster. I was, indeed, unable to “find my bass with both hands.” Now to return home and to my daily schedule of annoying you all regarding politics, government, the law and the various ills of society. But for at least a while, I’ll be doing it with a smile on my face and some very fine memories.
