There are lots of moving videos detailing how soldiers show up and surprise loved ones at games, school or home. But sometimes technology can also do the trick and make someone feel like they’re right before their loved one who suddenly appears. How did the 10 news team pull off the Surprise? They brought Sean in for a station tour, showing him the control room, the newsroom and even preparing a script for him to read.
Sean had an IFB hooked up to his ear which allowed him to hear the producers, and as he was practicing his script the anchor tells him to look over at a nearby monitor on set — in uniform and all the way from Afghanistan was his mother from a live satellite feed.
