To all earthquake survivors of Christchurch and surrounds, hang in there… “we are sending in the linebacker angels”… Below this is the Letter to New Zealanders containing Post-Trauma Recovery Tenets… and here is this little prayer for your best possible health and strength from someone you know well… the kiwi.
The Kiwi, which is a New Zealand bird of time-honored rank, is endangered, like the souls of humans often are, from overgrown predators, and yet…
HEART OF THE KIWI
The little kiwi is a true survivor.
Kiwis are descendents
of the ancient ones
who lived literally eons ago –
like us and our own ancestors.
Although kiwis are vulnerable
for they are flightless –
like us –
they are also ace smart
and extremely alert
and are said to be able to outrun
and survive many dangers
via heart and endurance –
like us.
They shelter their young.
They stay near their own –
like us.
Beloved kiwis,
bearing so many traits
sacred to the stalwart soul-
like us…
who sometimes find
we too are kiwi-hearted,
like this little alma valiente,
this little vulnerable
but brave, brave soul
who trots onward,
keeping close to the earth,
no matter whatever else.
