It’s Kagan? So Much For Not Taking a Cautious Approach

If it’s true that Barack Obama plans to announce that he’s chosen Elena Kagan to replace Justice Stevens on the Supreme Court — as MSNBC and several other news outlets are now reporting — then it’s really a no-surprise surprise.

I say that, of course, because of Pres. Obama’s claim (through Robert Gibbs and others in the administration) that Obama felt “liberated” by the Republicans being the “Party of No” to nominate someone truly progressive even if that meant a more uphill confirmation process. In the end, he has nominated the safest, most conservative of any of the choices on his short list.
