Homeland Security Official Arrested On Child Porn Sting
It’s ironic but an official working to improve the Homeland Security Department’s image in the press has been arrested on child porn charges — which isn’t something that will burnish his agency’s image very much:
The deputy press secretary for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was arrested Tuesday for using the Internet to seduce what he thought was a teenage girl, authorities said.Brian J. Doyle, 55, was arrested at his residence in Maryland on charges of use of a computer to seduce a child and transmission of harmful material to a minor. The charges were issued out of Polk County, Fla.
Doyle, of Silver Spring, Md., had a sexually explicit conversation with what he believed was a 14-year-old girl whose profile he saw on the Internet on March 14, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
As this AP story indicates, he was talking via computer with a law enforcement decoy. You’d think that with all of the publicity on television about alleged child molesters be lured themselves to a house where they think they’re going to meet an underaged child or teen they would catch on by now. And someone who works in the press section is presumably aware of what’s going on in the press.

Doyle confessed shortly after detectives stormed his home, searched his computer, and interrupted his online conversation with an undercover investigator between 7 and 8 o’clock Tuesday night.Polk County Sheriff’s Department officials say they’ve been monitoring Doyle for quite some time. They say they were suspicious of his online conversation at first because Doyle identified himself, his occcupation, and offered his office and business cell phone numbers online to the person he was talking to.
Investigators say the undercover cop Doyle was talking to was posing as a fourteen year old girl recovering from Leukemia. Police say Doyle would offer his condolences, and in the next sentence, he’d invite her to engage in sexual acts. Investigators say Doyle downloaded pornography, and sent her 16 pornographic movie clips, then asked her if she’d engage in some of the acts in the films.
There are several aspects to this story. It shows a less-than-stellar vetting process on the part of Homeland Security. But it also shows how potential child molsters lurk virtually everywhere…and that they should know that officials are willing to monitor their online activities until they get them.

Setting aside that the guy’s a sick fuck, let’s look at the OTHER aspect here.
They have MORONS working to protect our country! He TOLD her who he was and what he did, as if it wasn’t a bad idea. HE GAVE HER HIS OFFICE NUMBER.
No WONDER they can smuggle dirty bombs across our borders endetected. The department is run by Incompetents (Chertoff) and Idiots (this guy).

Few things have been embraced by its members more willingly than the myth that Republicans are morally superior citizens. No one tells the story better than George Will, Hannidy, Scarborough, Coulters and their clones. Republicans are church going, Sunday School attending, soccer moms and NASCAR dads.
And that leaves Democrats as the evil-doers: America-hating, church-hating sexual deviants.
This guy here is probably some sort of patronage appointment who is not only a total scumbage but probably knows nothing about the job he’s been given. Hell, for the money he makes he coulda paid a call girl to dress up in a Catholic school uniform if that’s how he gets his jollies.
Any bets on how soon it will be before it’s said he wasn’t a Republican anyway so it just proves how sick Democrats are?

I just finished reading an article that really took all of the ownership of this sicko from the DHS, and say that the ACLU is wrong becuase they suspect the ACLU will defend this guys actions. Way to spin…But WAY OFF. NO ONE thinks that Civil Liberties include sexual conversations with Minors!! Stop trying to spin, no one is defending him, Right or Left. Can’t we all just get along (at least on this one? I go back to hating you when we talk about spying)

Lots of stuff in internet, books and TV accuse all social ills on Democrats: violent Hollywood movies, poor child rearing, laziness. I’ve had Republicans tell me stuff like a guy who does this are BY DEFINITION Democrats; and that Democrats simply dont’ go to church. Man they really believe this stuff.
I’m a Conservative, but I have family who aren’t so I take this personal. I couldn’t resist saying if this guy was a Democrat (former Clinton appointee especially) Republicans would be doing back flips. They’d probably do up a letter for the Bible Belt asking for donations. I think they would. Folk like ‘wowyoupeople…” would be one of the first to write a check
It’s more about the lax vetting associated with the whole Department of Homeland Security that’s supposed to be so vital to our protection (yet, in the first major test since its creation–Katrina– proved so tragically not up to the job.)
We can start with Bernard Kerik, Bush’s original nominee to be the second DHS Secretary, who had more skeletons in his closet than the prop director of a horror movie; Michael Brown, who, though at least looking more like he acquitted himself better than we thought, really had no or at best minimal experience to have such a critical job as FEMA director; Michael Chertoff, who, no matter what is his experience, has proven himself to be a disaster and just should have been fired– and a long time ago; and now, we have this guy, an integeral part of information dispensing by DHS in the event of a crisis, seemingly not vetted at all, despite serious problems…
It’s not a good pattern. No, Doyle might well be an aberration (and as I noted, this does seem to be among the first, if not the first, sex related scandal of the Bush team), but there is a very serious problem with just how unseriously this government seems to be taking the people who perform Homeland Security functions. And THAT IS a partisan issue.
It was one of those patronage things I bet. Give some money, get a job. it’s sad.
