Carrie Prejean Fired

TMZ broke the story this afternoon:

We’ve learned “biblically correct” Carrie Prejean will lose her Miss California USA crown today because she doesn’t play well with others. … Carrie is getting her walking papers this afternoon.

They were right.

Donald Trump is quoted in the NYTimes story:

I told Carrie she needed to get back to work and honor her contract

The National Organization for Marriage stands by their spokesmodel:

“Hollywood hates Carrie. First they abuse her, then they try to get her to recant, then they threw mud, and now they are doing what they wanted to do from day one: Get rid of Carrie.

This cover story about a contract dispute doesn’t pass the smell test. Americans aren’t fooled that easily. God knows, and we know, the truth about Carrie: She’s a young woman of great beauty who chose truth over the glittering tiara that Hollywood offers,” said Brian Brown, Executive Director for NOM. “Of course they will try to punish her, but we know she will be fine in the end, because her values are in the right place.”

“Hollywood will dance its tribal war dance over her body–the hatred generated against her has been extraordinary–but Carrie will be free to define her own mission and message from now on. Congratulations,” stated Maggie Gallagher, President for NOM.

TMZ follows up:

We just got off the phone with deposed Miss California USA Carrie Prejean — and she says the pageant was trying to whore her out to Playboy.

Prejean claims pageant honcho Keith Lewis actually asked her last month if she would take two gigs — appearing on “I’m a Celebrity … Get Me Out of Here!” and Playboy. Prejean says Lewis told her Playboy offered $140,000 for her to pose semi-nude. She rejected both offers.

A few minutes ago we talked to Lewis who said he was not pushing her to take either gig — but merely passing the offers along. Lewis said Prejean had insisted they not turn anything down without running it by her.

Yuck. I guess we’re left to believe whatever we want to believe.

Me, I see gay and lesbian people continuing in their quest for inclusion in the military, in places of worship and for legally sanctioned committed relationships. While the protect marriage crowd rallies behind a woman who lied about posing for nudie photos and fired for being a no show at work.

Keep your head up Carrie. Don't pay any attention to that hypocrite Shana Moakler. She has no room to talk to anyone about being a good role model. Let's not forget that Miss Goody Two Shoes was Miss December 2001 in Playboy, “some role model”. And that rag of a TV show she had, showed her spending most of her days laying in bed, doing little or nothing, ” Man, I can't wait to tell my kids that I want them to grow up to be just like her”, RIGHT!!!!
I applaud you for speaking your mind and saying what you truly feel.

have we moved so far in the direction of opening up to gays/lesbians that we as a people dont or want to hear what Carrie is talking about that we can no longer understand that doing what is happening to her is the same thing. Wondering was there freedom the goal was silence and revenge or do they want freedom to be

so can we do an article about what exactly she did not do….specific moments that Carrie did not fulfill her duties in accordance with the contract?

My jaw dropped when I read this above quote from the National Organization for Marriage (above):

“God knows, and we know, the truth about Carrie: She’s a young woman of great beauty who chose truth over the glittering tiara that Hollywood offers…”

Do they realize that Carrie is a beauty queen who wanted (and became) the glittering tiara of Ms. California? We are talking about the same person, right? Right?

Also, at the time I defended Carrie for her anti same-sex marriage remarks because they sounded ot me that she supported the choice, but she herself was not for same-sex marriage. (I think she has since clarified those remarks.)

At any rate, I thought it was unusual that Trump allowed Carrie to stay on, even though she lied about her past (posing for topless pics) on her application. TO me a contract is a contract and if you break it or lied, then there should be some punishment. I was more upset that Trump did not exact any sort of punishment. I was wondering what sort of example that sets in society…. that you can lie and break a contract but not receive any punishment (not necessarily losing her title- but some punishment).

But reading the story today I realized that Trump was right about giving her a second chance (though I still think she should have been punished). Now that she has broken her contract again I think it is fitting that she be terminated.

Which just proves my point…. If someone does something wrong, is caught, but not punished, then they'll do it again, believing they can get away with it. And when it is someone in the public eye, who does something, is caught and everyone sees that s/he got away with it, then it sends a wrong message.

So I hope that the moral of this story is not hidden (which it appears to be). The moral is that it is OK to make mistakes, we all make them but we should pay for those mistakes. And if someone is compassionate enough to give us a second chance, then we should not screw it up or take that second chance for granted.

“even though she lied about her past (posing for topless pics) on her application”

I keep hearing this but it was contradicted by what Tump indicated. There is a difference between having a photo shoot where topless (really just a nip slip) were taken and a shoot where the goal is to take topless pictures. I couldn't care less but the only reason to misrepresent the situation is to insult and belittle her. If you feel like doing so be honest at least.

She's a fake and a liar and her views have no place in civilized society. Good riddance.

EEllis, “I couldn't care less but the only reason to misrepresent the situation is to insult and belittle her. If you feel like doing so be honest at least.”

First of all I was not belittling Carrie for being topless, but rather how she had lied about her past and broken her contract. As far as I'm concerned she could dance naked on the Washington Mall- I don't care. My criticism of Carrie is around her breaking her contract (or lying, as the case may be). I think the “rules” in the pageant are silly, but if you want to enter, then you have to play by them. This is yet another example of someone in the public eye who feel they can get away with crap. Whatever happened to keeping one's word and honesty?

If it turns out that Carrie is an upstanding citizen who is not squelching on her contract then I'll have further comments which may be different than now. I can only comment on what is reported by reputable sources (though I understand they might be wrong).

I also thought it was apparent in my comments that I was glad she was given a second chance. I think if my goal was going to “belittle” her then I would have said something very different. She's young, she's in the public eye and trying to make sense of it. She's going to make mistakes. But ultimately she didn't appear to learn from her first lesson. She just can't keep breaking her contract and expect to get away with it.

  12. EEllis says:

But she didn't lie or violate her contract (ie nude pics) so how does your statment that she did so work? It's like if you repeate a lie long enough then it becomes the truth.

  13. JWindish says:

The emails, obtained by Fox News, are persuasive evidence that she violated her contract after The Donald came to her rescue:

NOM & Trump made her into that monster. Trump has rid himself of her. NOM is still standing by. They can have her. She does nothing but help my side of the argument.

Being the Queen of Beauty & all you are expected to do what Queens do, show up at scheduled events, smile a lot & look pretty, and promote stuff. That's the gig you signed up for. You work for the pagent, not the other way 'round. Seems she didn't read that memo.
You spoke your mind about gay marriage, that idjit Perez Hilton made his squawk & instantly the National Organization for Marriage pounced on you as the perfect icon for their agenda. Now that you've lost your Queen Job, I'm sure they'll take you under their wing to trot you out at their events. So you see…? You have a brand new career. The world's your OYSTER, babe!

It become crystal clear that Carrie Prejean, beautiful wholesome all American woman has been the victim
of the sinful and sick homosexual life style clique mounting a smear campaign to unseat her for her
refusal to endorse or promote their cause. With the help of the sleezy and spineless pageant “officials”
she finally succumb, getting fired by the two pathetic dimwitted buffoons Donald Trump and Keith Lewis.
Thank God she never gave ground, re-affirming her strong moral and ethical confictions in the face of
determined assaults, never compromising, head held high and unbowed, honor and dignity intact. America
is blessed and proud to have this sweet blonde Angel to call as one of their own. She has shown incredible integrety and courage. She should be emulated by all young women in the nation. Carrie is
supported by almost all Americans, loved and respected. May God bless America, protect and bless
    Carrie Prejean.

  17. pjmuys007 says:

Carrie Prejean, the most beautiful white tall blonde female in the country has fallen victim to vicious
attacks because she has no status in the super protected “vulnerable, innocent, tolerant' minority.
Had she been a minority, no one has dared to make any negative comment about Carrie.
As it was, it was open season on her by every mentally challenged scoundrel who cowardly hacked the
webside and defaced her beautiful pictures. She will still however, remains the most beautiful female
in the world. Deal with it.
