Will We Have a NY-20 Winner Today?

TediscoTalks.jpgWord is coming out of Albany that Jim Tedisco, facing a growing deficit in the results of the March 31 special election – may concede defeat to political neophyte Scott Murphy today.

A finish line could be in sight in the race for the 20th Congressional District. With the numbers not looking good for Republican Jim Tedisco, sources tell Capital News 9 that Tedisco could concede to Democrat Scott Murphy as soon as Friday afternoon.

There are roughly 1,000 paper ballots left to open and Murphy’s lead has slowly but surely widened to roughly 400. While anything is indeed still possible, no precinct has delivered a 75 to 25 percent advantage for either candidate thus far in the closely contested election, which is roughly the margin Jim Tedisco would need to capture from the remaining ballots in order to win.

Far from a bellwether for either party, NY-20 may turn out to be a microcosm of exactly how closely divided the nation remains and how cloudy the search for trusted leaders has become. In the end, the situation in the House of Representatives won’t change much, as the Democrats held that seat last term anyway.

A republican, unless caught with a dead girl or a live boy, should have won that seat without working up a sweat, and ten years ago that's exactly what would have happened. The fact that Democrats are winning elections in Republican Districts should really tell you how thoroughly Shrub and his kakistocracy have screwed the pooch.

    My comment: see DQ, above.

So I would say it's another sign of just how much the Republicans are losing in America as a whole.

It isn't a good sign for the Repubs, to say the least. But as Jazz noted in his post, the Dems held that seat anyway, so in the grand scheme of things, nothing changed.

DQ: "A republican, unless caught with a dead girl or a live boy"

You must be channeling SuperDestroyer...I recall him saying similar things during the election
