Polling Obama’s Speech

So far, the reactions to Obama’s speech last night have been very, very positive. Unlike the post-debate snap polls, where pundits saw a weak performance but the public rated Obama highly, everyone seems to agree that Obama was at the top of his game.

Some numbers:

  • 63% approved of President Obama’s plans for dealing with the economic crisis before the speech; 80% approved after, according to a CBS poll.
  • A CNN poll found that 68% of speech-watchers had a “very positive” reaction, 24% had a “somewhat positive” reaction, and only 8% said they had a negative reaction.
  • In a Democracy Corps focus group, 68% of independent and mildly-partisan voters came into the speech approving of Obama’s job performance. After the speech, these already high marks moved to 82%.

Marc Blumenthal has some additional data and focus group results. In almost each case, support went up with both Democrats and Republicans. There’s been a lot of speculation that the honeymoon is ending with Republicans, but it seems Obama’s speeches are the key to his bipartisan support.

It's odd that CNN didn't give the option of a neutral response, which would have been mine.

Well I have to laugh at the idea that independents were polled.

There is an awfully lot of "So called Independents" running around that are in love with Obama, have a crush on him and when pressed on their political views are waaaaaaayyyyyyy far left.

I suppose if those were the independents that CNN used then well I can see why 80 percent are still in love with the same old tired lies the democrats have been feeding us for years.

Under LBJ they were going to end poverty. Poverty is still here. But of course we know its the GOP's fault.

Under Barak Obama were gonna do this and that but of course we know its the GOP's fault when it doesnt work.

Lies, lies and more lies. Our politicians including Barak Obama are nothing but Liars, cowards and thieves. Bush Proved it, Chenney endorsed it and now we just have a slick talking con man in office proving once again that anything is indeed possible in America.

When Obama actually does something substantial then I will come back and apologize to HIM and to the Democrats. But until they actually install a health care plan in America......Not just try but do it...........or until we see 10 million new jobs in the Green sector or until we see an end to poverty then count me as the skeptic who believes The democrats have no plan. They only have lies, lies and more damn lies to keep feeding a gullible American populace.

It truly is time for a third party. The problem is what would they stand for? Half lies and half truths..............oh well. America is still a good place to live. Despite our politicians who use every trick in the book to divide America so they remain in power.
