A Continental Airlines commuter jet has crashed in Buffalo New York, killing all 48 people on board and at least 1 person on the ground. This tragedy marks the end of an impressive safety record since it was August 2006 when we last had a passenger air crash with fatalities.
All of our prayers go out to the families of those who have been lost tonight.

A true tragedy. I feel for everyone involved. there is a report (I don't know if it has been confirmed yet) that one of the passengers was a 9/11 widow.
I was sitting on an airplane in Minneapolis, returning from a trip to Canada, when this accident occurred. We were sat on the runway for an hour, with no update from the pilot as to why. Afterward, he was able to tell us that there was a temporary shutdown of new flights, while a quick determination that this was not a terrorist act was made.
