Dodd Bitter-Enders, Represent! (UPDATED)

Why should angry Hillary supporters who have sworn never to forgive be the only intransigents refusing to hear what their own candidate is telling them?

At Sadly, No!, Gavin writes:

Maybe we can become Chris Dodd bitter-enders.

[ahem] Personally, I shall never in all my life forget the howling persecution that we endured from the O-bot smear machine and the Clintonazi long-knifers. They have tried to marginalize us, but ho! now we will band together and marginalize them.

Yes, as Dodd is our witness, it will be “unity” on our terms.

UPDATE: Judging by the comments, I need to explain that this is satire.

  • Neocon
Unfortunately for everyone in the United States of America the smear machine that began with the GOP and was so effective beccame the rallying cry for the Democrats and more notably NOW the FAR lefterners of the Obama Campaign.

Smear, slander, Browbeat is the way of politics now. If you aint for us then you are a garbage, dirtbag, scumsucking ......... you get my drift. There seems to be only one way in politics . MY WAY.

There is no middle ground. No moderate voice. No concillatory gestures that are meaningful. Its hate and venom. What makes it right is who wins the shouting contest.

Enter the Dragon. I mean Obamittes.
  • YAWN!

    * No disrespect intended...

I think that you prove a pretty valid point by your simple post.

Its simplicity is dynamic and amazingly fortelling.

Quite simply those who have concerns, are angry or are refusing to embrace Obama are met with

    YAWN. *No disrespect intended....

Well if your at the negotiating table with Iran and they are saying we want X or Y or Z and you yawn at their concerns that is the same as screaming "YOU DONT MATTER."

That simply is what is happening this election.

Clinton supporters DO NOT MATTER if they DO NOT support Obama.

Therein lies the problem with the Democratic healing process.

Rather then telling them they don't matter they should be included, absorbed into the collective Borg machine and made to be a part of this process.

Instead the approach by all is "YAWN." You don't matter. WE are the victors. YOU are the vanquished now lets see what carpetbagging, scorched earth policy we can inflict upon you.

I've said all that to say one simple thing. There is no effort by either side to unite around Obama and the policies of both candidates that are quite similar. Both sides are still in "I hate you mode." Instead of addressing each others concerns they are continuing to bash each other despite Obama and Hillary's attempts at fixing the rift.
  • You know what my "YAWN" was for? It's for the entire intra-party war that will lose DEMOCRATS the election and how worn out I am over it. I'm tired of hearing about it. I'm tired of Obama and Clinton supporters posturing, positioning, and leveraging when the goal is to get a Democrat in the White House (if your a Democrat). My Independent ass gives all of it a BIG YAWN. Grow the hell up. In personal life, we reconcile issues MUCH DEEPER and MUCH MORE EMOTIONAL than presidential politics. We do it and freakin' survive. But THIS??? THIS??? THIS???????? Give me a break.

    YAWN....

And comparing my YAWN to this situation to negotiating with Iran is like comparing Olive Oyl to Marilyn Monroe... 'Nuff said.

    Damozel,

As you have seen from the reacton , every one of your serial posts on this subject results in increased animosites.
Not one of these posts has resulted in increased sympathy for the Hillary campers. In fact, the reverse is true. The anger against this group increases every time the subject is rehashed. There are no, zero, no new converts

Since you persist , I can only surmise that this is your real purposte to split the party apart irrevocably. Even if by some new maneuvering, Hillary could wrest the nomination from Obama, she would never be accepted, because of the animostiies have been raised so high by this group. You would lose, even if you won. Excuse me, wihile I DO NOT congratualte you for what you are achieving.

BTW, the inability to gracefully accept political defeat is not anywhere remotely related to what the evocation of Dodd's name attempts to imply. You mignt as well asssociate this political vendetta with Jesus Christ. It's exactly the kind of cheap, gimmicky tactic that draws anger and disdain.

You can go ahead and be insulted now.

    Even more relevant.

I don't follow your postings close enough to know what you stand for or even who you are going to vote for. I think I sorta remember you posting concerns over Obama while not endorsing Clinton in the past. People look at my name and assume Im a GOP neocon and go off on neocon bashing.

I can say......Lord bless Obama but I dont agree with his policy on blah and Im bashed for being a neocon warmongering dolt simply because of ASSUMPTIONS that are not true.

However. The point is still valid. Instead of working to reconcile this nations political parties, we all seem to be working toward undermining it. Even Libertarians, Independents, Democrats or Republicans.

Yawn is apathy toward the process or those engaging in the process. I DID NOT mean to impugn your integrity or blame the entire political meltdown on YOU personally. I just found your response to be especially poignant for this entire political landscape that is forging ahead in America since 2003.

What I believe, you believe, they believe is irrelevant. When you speak we either YAWN or we bash. No one is listening anymore.
  • pacatrue
I thought it was a joke. "As Dodd as our witness?" Seriously making fun of the whole topic.
  • Instead of working to reconcile this nations political parties, we all seem to be working toward undermining it. Even Libertarians, Independents, Democrats or Republicans.

My "yawn" is helping the political party reconciliation (and the hyper coverage of it) by putting it in its proper place: behind scenes and out the way. See, I'm a regular American who gets more upset at the having to give pink slips to employees I manage because "The Folks On High" decide that strong profits mean reductions. Reductions of folks' livelihoods and lifestyles. So excuse me for "yawning" at the elite Obama and elite Clinton "search for Kumbaya" ("elite" used for effect as I'm an elite BBQ man).

Yawn is apathy toward the process or those engaging in the process.

I have no problem with engaging in the process. Heck I come from a family of political activists from loyal Democrats to hard core former Black Panthers. But the Obama/Clinton reconciliation is tiresome. What kind of love needs to be shown to reconcile. I'll tell you what kind of love: the grown-up kind. Enough. McCain will win, Republicans will brag long and hard (deservedly), and Democrats will blame each other to smoking nubs. All because Kumbaya can't be achieved. How about a professional working relationship where you go about the business of laying out your policies and plans? That goes for supporters as well.

This was a JOKE, people. A joke. SATIRE.

Gavin was making fun of bitter-enders generally, RUNASIM and everyone. I have NO --- repeat, NO --- sympathy for Hillary supporters who can't let go. And I support Obama.

It's just depressing that people couldn't see that. From now on, I guess I'd bettter put it in capital letters right in the post. I'd have thought the language would have been a sufficient cue.
  • runasim
    Damozel,
If this was a joke, it was like a joke about cancer at the deathbed of someone who is dying in agonizing pain from it.

You mst be aware, that there is a daily onslought of comments here from some persistently beating the same old drum beat. What you say is a joke is exactly the kind of thing posted here in all seriousness.
I apologize for not spotting the difference, but there is no difference.
  • DAMOZEL
Yes, RUNASIM, it was most definitely satire. I thought Gavin's '[ahem]' and 'as dodd is my witness' and the phrase 'bitter enders' would clarify that it was a light-hearted response to the very serious and humorless stance adopted by some Clinton supporters who won't let go , especially given that Dodd's not been a contender for months.

These reconciliation issues are not emotional for me, though I as my 'serial posts' as you call them indicate, I find them interesting and worth commenting on. I am interested in the campaign and how it is unfolding.

I strongly hope for an Obama win. I hope to give Dems who are bitter about Hillary's lost or disappointed in his subsequent reversals reasons to vote for him anyway. A sympathetic stance that recognizes the basis for their concerns seems to me to be more helpful than an angry 'take it or leave it' posture. Though many people seem to believe that the anger has died down or will die down, my own observations convince me that it has NOT.

I hope to persuade Dems who are bitter about Hillary that those emotions ought to have less weight than rebuking Bush's policies. I would also like to convince them to lighten up. (That goes for angry Obama supporters as well).

So I suppose I'll continue in the same vein for yet awhile.
  • I knew it was satire but its satire about an issue that has worn down my brain stem. That's why I "yawned" it off. LOL!

But Neocon and I got into a back and forth. It's all good. Sorry for ruining the moment.
