Fox News Boots Dick Morris

Fox News has booted Dick Morris, arguably the worst pundit since the time of Moses:

Fox News has decided not to renew its contract with political commentator and pollster Dick Morris, an industry official tells POLITICO’s Mike Allen.

Morris, who was on contract with Fox News throughout the 2012 presidential campaign, had not appeared on the network for almost three months after Fox News president Roger Ailes decided to keep him off the network. He is scheduled to appear on CNN on Wednesday.

Here’s Morris spin on it:

“You read it right! I will be a guest on The Piers Morgan Show on CNN, yes CNN, this Wednesday night at 9 PM ET,” Mr. Morris wrote at his personal website on Tuesday evening.

“I’ll spell out what the Republican Party must do to win national elections again and will discuss how House Speaker Boehner has become Obama’s captive. Tune in!” the enthusiastic analyst declared
.
He has been absent from Fox News since a November appearance on “Hannity,” just weeks after he resolutely predicted a landslide victory for Mitt Romney in the 2012 presidential election.

The Morris “brand” appears intact.

“Probably the most prominent American political consultant, Dick Morris is almost universally credited with piloting Bill Clinton to a stunning comeback re-election victory in 1996 after the president lost Congress to the Republicans two years before,” Mr. Morris says at his Facebook page.

There are good pundits and bad pundits, and then there is Dick Morris. Since the election of Barack Obama, Morris has been more of a punch line for comedians and talk radio hosts than a serious pundit. Yes, there are second acts in American life, American politics and media.

If he has a second act, it better be a damned good one, since the last act bombed.

  1. His first act bombed, too. His advice to Bill Clinton lead to the President’s impeachment. Holy hubris!

  2. “Fox News Boots Dick Morris”

Why does that remind me of boots, and feet that go into boots, and toes attached to feet, and…well you know the rest of the story.

  3. FOX has taken another, badly needed, step towards interfacing with reality with this move. Good job guys. Nice to know that if you do your job bad enough in full view of millions of people there is actually some accountability out there.
