Paul Ryan, The Next Dick Cheney

WASHINGTON – Delusions of Darth Vader dance in Paul Ryan’s head, no doubt put their by political strategists and marketing flaks, who have turned Ryan to rallying evangelicals through fear, the last stop of the desperate.

In his remarks to what organizers said were tens of thousands of members of the Faith and Freedom Coalition, Ryan said that President Barack Obama’s path for the next four years is a “dangerous” one. “[It is] a path that compromises those values — those Judeo-Christian values that made us a great nation in the first place,” he said, referring to religious liberty and Obamacare. [Buzzfeed]

There’s a lot being written about Ryan right now, the New York Times tells quite a different story from the recent AP item that dripped of desperation of what to do after a Mitt Romney loss.

That is why some of Ryan’s biggest boosters are considering whether it wouldn’t be better for Ryan to resign from the House. He could write a book — “saving America” is a theme often bandied about — or teach at a university. – VP Ryan? Prof. Ryan? GOP nominee’s future unclear [Associated Press]

One thing is clear, the marketing weenies are working overtime on PR, making sure Ryan isn’t coated with what became the Sarah Palin curse. A reality TV show, a media gig, then virtual obscurity and barking from Facebook, Paul’s people are making sure that’s not where he’s headed.

Representative Paul D. Ryan may have largely disappeared from the national spotlight down the campaign homestretch, ceding attention to Mitt Romney. But if the Republican ticket prevails, Mr. Ryan plans to come back roaring, establishing an activist vice presidency that he said would look like Dick Cheney’s under President George W. Bush. – Ryan, Quiet for Now, Is Said to Be Planning for an Active Role

The think tank frat boy is gnashing at the bit to get to the budget.

The prospect of a deeply engaged vice president was described in interviews with campaign aides, close House colleagues and the few times Mr. Ryan has discussed his potential future job. Asked by a reporter last month if he expected the kind of broad responsibility for the economy that Mr. Cheney held for national security — as an aide suggested — Mr. Ryan said, “I do.”

“A large reason he was chosen was to help Romney govern,” an adviser to the campaign said. “Paul’s going to focus on being a partner.”

Paul Ryan doing for the U.S. economy what Dick Cheney did for national security. Torturing the American people would be the likely outcome.

This is why Biden should have thrashed Ryan the candidate, not dismiss him as a nobody. Dems will regret not exposing Ryan when they had the chance.

Paul Ryan (does that guy have a vested interest?) says that
Mr. Romney will  make a great President.
I agree- Romney WILL indeed be a very great President – -for the super-rich.
But at least Hurricane Sandy has done of us all a favor-
by causing us to focus on Romney’s skewed thinking:
Consider Romney’s advice for storm & disaster survivors:
“Don’t be a victim, and stop looking for handouts!”
And…. ask your parents for help!
Heck, Romney will dismantle FEMA and the EPA
    (= more $$$ for his people/corporations).
Leave it to the states, he says.
Yeah, sure. The damage from Katrina was FOUR times Louisiana’a state budget!
Maybe Romney will make us dams…. out of? his used Etch-A-Sketches?
What we need is a tidal wave…….of voters…..
to sweep these kind of guys out of power.
THAT is the BEST way to help the victims of present and future Sandys.
…AND ….the best way to help yourself, and your family.
Obama does not dismiss 47% of America like Romney.
Obama says: This is not a Republican America.
This is not a Democratic America.
This is the UNITED States of America.
p.s. This is not mere rhetoric. For in many ways, Mitt Romney’s opposition to federal disaster relief programs is what the election is all about.
President Barack Obama supports using government to help those in a crisis get back on their feet.  Mitt Romney believes that government
has no role in helping people who are dealing with disaster.  Those two very different views of America’s future are on the ballot next week.
Your choice.    Choose well.    Choose as if your life depended on it.
    Because some day…..it just might.
We know from Mitt’s values (or lack of them) that he’s not a Christian.
But heck, he’s not even a Mormon. Come on Mitt, let’s be honest:
YOUR REAL GODS ARE MONEY AND GREED.
And your saints are those who have the most money
….. those who want to BUY this ELECTION – and this COUNTRY
……and FORGET the rest of us.
They try to drown us out with their dollars.
But WE still have a voice. And it’s called our VOTE.
We need a President for ALL the people -
NOT a President of the wealthy, by the wealthy,
    and for the wealthy.
And for sure, that AIN’T you Mitt…..

” a large reason he was chosen was to help Romney govern”. Even the Republicans realized Mitt can’t do the job. Romney realized he has no leadership compass so he chose a running mate who at least had a direction, albeit backwards about 200 years.
