Yes, “the great job creator” Romney, has not bent to help a small mom and pop business in Denver that he and his campaign put in harm’s way when the small restaurant in Denver did not want him to use their small neighborhood space for a campaign stop.
Romney & campaign did not rush to refute nor correct false stories circulating that the small restaurant did not refuse Romney service; they refused to be a political campaign stop that would disrupt their business ideology.
Even though word has been out for days now that they ONLY refused a campaign stop, the family of this 30 year old restaurant “Rose Lindas” has received hate mail, death threats, bogus reservations and false carry out orders via a internet service they have to pay a fee to every time someone uses it.
From whom? Those who read poorly and think the family restaurant owners dissed their candidate Romney. Mr. Romney and campaign have not stepped in to make it right with CLEAR and Timely clarification that would call off Romney’s hounds. We wonder why not.
Where are you ‘job creator’ Romney to set the record for this business that gainfully employs many, to set the record straight so they dont suffer downturn because of you and your campaign?
Below is the letter by the son of Rosa Linda written to the public to plead that Romney was never refused service to eat there. He was refused the space to exploit the situation and for good reason.
Though the owners are Latinos who happen to be Mormons, the restaurant has a heart philosophy: They serve ALL in the community of many Latinos and Anglos, Asians, and Native Americans, immigrants from Africa and other nations. They feed the homeless and the hungry during all these years in their hugely generous Thanksgiving meals for free. They do not feed people by their political affiliation. Never have. Never will.
Good on them. And really, Mitt Romney, stand up for Rosa Lindas: they in no way should suffer because they didnt allow you to roost there. They employ many people: talk about effects from your campaign Mitt that dive-bombs actual jobs, forget the 12 million jobs you say you’re going to pull out of thin air. You and your campaign are many days late in making this right for Rosa Linda’s.
Incidentally, we heard when Rosa Linda’s turned you down for a campaign stop and the mayhem that goes with such, you instead held your campaign stop in Denver at Chipotle “Mexican Grill” a large corporate chain of franchises. We can see you are casting about for the Latino vote, but Vato, got to tell you, eating a taco once a year at a chain restaurant aint going to gain votes. We just feel like a fly-by moment in time to you. You want Latino votes? Stay with us, live with us and struggle.
And by the way, at your debate with President Obama? The protesters outside were from farmworker organizations protesting Chipotle chain restaurants. Why? because Chipotle, unlike several other fast food national chains, wont sign an agreement with the farm workers in Florida who provide amongst other items, tomatoes to Chipotle chain nationwide.
The agreement asked for was so that farm workers can have a couple pennies more per bushel. The farmworkers live and work in deplorable conditions. Chipotle has their reasons for not wanting to join in supporting poor Latinos, fine, it’s a free country. They say. But it is hardly the place to hold a campaign stop to garner Latino votes, considering all else, isnt it? Mr. Romney to think you’d raise the Latino vote from Chipotle’s stance on Latino farmworkers is madness.
If you dont know the local politics and struggles, how can you be trusted to know what’s going on nationwide, across the world.
Speak up for Rosa Linda. Viva La Rosa Linda! Siempre!
Here is Rosa Linda’s son’s letter to the public to ask for succor that Romney should have taken great care to have given immediately. Local Latinos wont forget what happened here… and we have huge numbers of cousins all across the nation who have already heard of the Rosa Linda fiasco from Romney & campaign.
But, being a customer at Rosa Linda’s for many years now, and seeing the huge variety of people who support this little restaurant, neither will others who have a stake in REAL JOBS’ KEEPING, let alone job making… they wont forget what happened here either. You’re more than a day late and many votes short Mr. Romney.
[from Westword] As we reported, the Aguirres rejected the idea of serving as a campaign stop. But haters are not close readers. So here’s the note Oscar sent out late yesterday:
I (Oscar) would like to apologize to EVERY ONE WE MAY HAVE offended concerning Governor Mitt Romney, and the article in Westword. We did not refuse him service yesterday. THAT IS FALSE!
As stated in the article, when we were contacted by the campaign of candidate Romney on August 6th, by a former Mormon missionary, that he would like to bring the candidate here, NOT TO EAT but; it was presented to us that he wanted to do a political stump here. Talk about our small business and how because we share our religious views with the candidate and are Latinos it would be great for him to do a campaign stop. We did say NO because we are not Republicans, nor are we Democrats. We will welcome any sitting President of the United States. But we did not want to be a campaign stopping place….Since this article came out we have been getting hate emails, from people across the country, people sending us death threats and people calling us telling us we are racist… that they hope we go out of business. All are welcome to join us for family meal! we may not be your cup of tea but we still welcome anybody with open arms.
We DID NOT WANT TO BE A POLITICAL STOP!!
If we do go out of business our Annual Thanksgiving Feast to the needy would end. Last year we fed 5500 meals, this year we may serve above 6000 meals. Please let the American public know that we are not racist or bigots. We are just a working family wanting to help our community and our country by serving those in need.
PLEASE STOP THE HATE!!
Oscar
Please.
