George Zimmerman’s Story Apparently Gets More Weird

May 4, 2012 by

George Zimmerman’s account of the night when he wound up shooting Skittles-armed teenager Trayvon Martin has now gotten more weird. He apparently has now said Martin was circling his SUV and he was in fear of his life.

The account (or what is seeping out since the original reports) keeps seemingly changing.

It almost sounds like when this is over Zimmerman could have a career in politics.

Zimmerman is just a dim bulb. He should shut up while he’s ahead. Next he’ll claim the thug Treyvon was going to jack him…

    A couple thoughts:

Zimmerman is feeling so frightened of his situation and the fact he could have a long prison sentence-

(As I said before) Zimmerman became so fixated on Martin that he got caught up in the moment and things got out of hand-

And as a result he is trying to justify in his own mind the killing of Martin.

When one wants to run away from such a horrible truth it is easy for one to distort one fact… then distort another fact… and so on until you’ve created a completely different scenario.

I thought he was in the SUV and inexplicably got out to find Martin and/or an address to give the police.

if Martin was stalking him (and I think “circling the SUV” counts as stalking) and he was that scared of Martin, then I would not get out of the SUV. Even if Martin disappeared… No telling where Martin might have been hiding if he was stalking Zimmerman.

Also as I recall Zimmerman muttered something like, “these people get away with this all the time”. That doesn’t sound like Zimmerman was frightened. It sounds as though he was mad.

As far as Martin circling the van…. I could see where Martin might have crossed the street (to get to the other side) and approached the van as he did so. When I cross the street (and I’m a big jaywalker) I approach parked cars all the time.

I wonder how far the van was parked from where Martin was killed.

Anyway this will be an interesting case.

The source article specifically said. “The source said Zimmerman’s account of events hasn’t changed in his several statements to police” so it hard to see much truth to the idea that GZ has changed his story at all. Face it we have just been feeding off scraps of fact and fiction without any real knowledge of what truly occurred.

That doesn’t sound like Zimmerman was frightened. It sounds as though he was mad.

Sure and it’s impossible to be both at the same time.

When one wants to run away from such a horrible truth it is easy for one to distort one fact… then distort another fact… and so on until you’ve created a completely different scenario.

Great but that ignores the fact that so far all the reports say that GZ’s story has been totally consistent the whole time. He just hasn’t done what you claim so that must mean he’s innocent, right? Me I don’t know, maybe he has been lying from the start but even with the feeble facts we are given proclaiming his guilt based on logic that flies in the face of what we do currently know is a bit much.

I was all set to comment that “Why in heavens name is Zimmerman now giving press interviews?” since I knew that he’d finally retained some competent legal counsel.

Then I drilled through the Medaite report down to the Orlando Sentinel press report, and I find out that someone has leaked portions of Zimmerman’s police testimony to the public.

His lawyer, Mark O’Mara, now (reasonably) claims that he hasn’t seen these police testimony transcripts, so he can’t comment on them.

At least the fact that it’s a leak makes it understandable how it seems to be contradictory to his earlier public statements.

That said, I hope his lawyer can find out why the leak occurred, assuming it happened deliberately and not by accident.

Also, since George Zimmerman was forced to take down his original website, through which he raised nearly $200,000, his lawyer has created a new website (http://GZLegalCase.com/) which appears to be properly registered and is explicitly for the purpose of seeking public donations for Zimmerman’s legal defense.

So Zimmerman was afraid, even though he was safe in his SUV and had a gun? Even though he is the one who went out play-acting at being a cop? Give me a break.

  7. StockBoyLA

The worst part about it is that Zimmerman killed the only other witness to the events. Who knows what happened and if Zimmerman has (or will) tell the truth. There is no one to challenge his version of the events even if Zimmerman believes his own story. There’s two sides to every coin.

  8. zephyr

Exactly right Stockboy, and we’ll never know that other side.

Agree with Zephyr. It makes no sense that Zimmerman, who was armed and in his car would be frightened of Trayvon. If you’re frightened, just drive off! Also, seems like he would have mentioned these facts during the 911 call- you know the one where he was angry because Trayvon was getting away.

It sounds like GZ is embellishing his original story to make Martin sound like more of a threat. He would be better off sticking with his original story, because the State Atty’s office already admitted in court that they couldn’t prove that Zimmerman started the fight.

People who do not tell a consistent account of events are usually guilty

No where does it say that. This is a person who is paraphrasing not quoting ant then you are trying to extrapolate from that.

What are you talking about? GZ has never changed his story from the beginning according to every report including this one. We are just receiving the story in little bits. But how can you not know that if you read the source article and the comments before you posted? If you didn’t then why bother posting at all? I honestly don’t mind people thinking the guy is guilty but the some of the logic and reasoning is beyond bizarre.

You do realize that is not what the paraphrased report says? It said that because of Martins behavor GZ was “unnerved” (and who knows what words GZ actually used) You can attempt to avoid a confrontation without being scared of that confrontation anyway so it’s not like there is some big gotcha here. The only gotcha is in the article which draws a conclusion that is totally unsupported by the reported info and then Joe who is saying that Martin circling GZ’s car put him in fear of his life and that fear carried over to the shooting. To bad that is never said, not even close.

“The source said Zimmerman’s account of events hasn’t changed in his several statements to police — in which he said he was so unnerved by the teen’s behavior that he rolled up his window to avoid a confrontation.”

Not a direct quote EE but to the extent it’s an accurate paraphrase I’m fine with my comment. Of course we can’t get even a paraphrase from TM can we. GZ is the only one left who knows what really happened – and it may stay that way too. I doubt any of us here is naive enough to believe he would tell the truth if it meant painting himself in a damning light. So what is the truth of what happened? All we can do is hope a jury finds out.
