There were six Senators facing recall tonight in Wisconsin, all of them Republicans. For the Democrats to take back the chamber they needed to win 3 and it appears they fell one short.
State Senator Dan Kapanke lost as expected (his district is strongly Democratic). Margin looks to be 56-44.
Senate Senator Randy Hopper also lost and this was also expected due to the Democratic lean of the district and a bit of a personal scandal. Margin there is 51-49
Senators Cowles, Harsdorf and Olson beat the recall. Olson was the only of the three thought to be in danger but he won by a 52-48 margin.
The one remaining seat (which could shift control to the Democrats) is held by Alberta Darling. The race is not over but she leads 53-47 with 82% of the vote counted and even Daily Kos has more or less conceded defeat. (UPDATE: AP has called it for Darling but her opponent has not yet conceded)
But some Democrats are claiming fraud, upset that a heavily GOP county is voting for Republicans.

The fraud claim seems to have disapeared.
I bet someone realized that it made them look stupid. I will say that is a reason to do more than link as it makes that part of the post pointless without some info on what the “claim” was
All that union dues money spent to only get slapped in the face by the voters.
I thought this site was for political moderates, not anti-unionists. The question of vote tampering came from an ongoing history with elections in this district. No one should tolerate incompetence, if that is all it was, tallying elections. One incidence is unfortunate, additional incidences should be investigated.
When the voters feel enough pain the scales will fall from their eyes. Funny how that works.
Gem, this site includes moderates, liberals, and conservatives ~ even a few fringe dwellers.
I can’t speak for everyone but as to my own comments…
The claims about fraud in the Supreme Court election turned out to be nothing. Indeed the way the votes are reported in Wisconsin mean the woman in question just tallies what votes she is given, she does not count.
Also, at the same time there were votes out from that county there were also votes out from heavily Democratic Milwaukee but nobody (left or right) made it an issue. Votes just take time to count.
Finally, even if you eliminate all the votes from that county, the GOP candidate still wins.
And as others have pointed out, the claims have been dropped now (they hadn’t been when I posted this) and sites like Kos or Huff Po never took the claims that seriously.
Also welcome to the site and please keep commenting.
“The question of vote tampering came from an ongoing history with elections in this district.”
Does it? How would we know that? Some info on that would be nice.
