The former First Lady has died at age 93.
In addition to being one of the most down to earth and kind people to serve as First Lady she also made news herself on several occassions.
Her openess with her battle with breast cancer helped bring a formerly taboo subject into the light and is credited with saving thousands of lives. Women who would not have otherwise asked their doctors about it did so and many were saved.
The Betty Ford Center for Substance Abuse has also saved many lives.
By all accounts a pure class act, much like her late husband.
Both her and Gerald Ford were moderate Republicans. Those type of RINO’s couldn’t even win election as dog catcher in Western Michigan…
God bless Mrs. Ford. May God show her mercy.
She was a brilliant star among First Ladies. She will be missed.
one of the real ones. Thank you Betty. Bless you and may your family be comforted for as long as need be.
I was (am) impressed with Betty. She brought breast cancer (surgery) to the main table of discussion as well as alcoholism. She came down with an opinion on the side of choice as well as current social behavior. Many of us respected her “tell it like it is attitude”. Not scripted and ahead of her time. We need more like her.
