Chavez’s address proves that “international politics [has]become a theater of the absurd, in which every squalid and/or crackpot dictator strives with all his might to outdo the others in the game of farcical braggadocio,” but he was right that the U.N. “doesn’t work”. Consider the case of Darfur, which has left the U.N. as impotent as ever.
