#RomneyShambles: Carl Lewis Slams Romney Saying “Some Americans Shouldn’t Leave the Country”
#AmericanBorat: Mitt Romney’s overseas trip is still a mangled mess that aims to define him in the worst possible way, setting him up to be a goldmine for comedians everywhere. Former sprint and gold medalist Carl Lewis entered the fray saying, “I swear, sometimes I think some Americans shouldn’t leave the country. Are you kidding me, stay home if you don’t know what to say,” The Independent reports. Ouch. His comments are in response to Mitt Romney questioning the preparedness of London to host the Olympics. George W. Bush was called a lot of names, but I can’t recall the Brits labeling him as a “wazzock.”
Lewis, who won 10 Olympic medals including 9 gold during his career, criticised the presidential candidate for suggesting London may not be ready for the Olympics. Mr Romney faced widespread criticism and mockery yesterday for his comments – and for seemingly forgetting the Laborr leader Ed Miliband’s name during a press conference.
Much of the criticism came from the social networking site Twitter – with many users tagging comments about Romney with the hashtag #romneyshambles. Source: The Independent
The Indpendent reports First Lady Michelle Obama urged America’s athletes to “have fun, breathe a bit, but also win,” as she met them at their training base in east London. Mrs. Obama will have a ringside seat at tonight’s opening ceremony. Maybe she can stem the bleeding by pushing Mitt Romney off center-stage where the British media is concerned. Mitt Romney should retroactively cancel his London trip and self-deport from Great Britain. The color will drain out of many faces as we brace for the worst when he goes to Poland and Israel.
